We are officially halfway through the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and so far I am in love with the show. Obviously I haven’t read the books but I think that is really feeding my enjoyment of the show. I tend to be a purist so I know I would just think about how its playing as an adaptation. But from what I’ve gathered from the internet all of the characterizations are correct and the show has just missed some story beats. Which, I’m so sorry book readers, are just not important. Characterization will always be more important then actual storylines. If Rick wanted to use the show to totally rewrite the stories of these kids while only keeping their names and personalities then that would be fine. People need to learn that adaptations are not, have never been, and will never be direct.
