Okay so we have been over what I would like to happen as these Oscar nominations are announced. But now we have decided to go a more realistic route. This is my list for what I think the academy is actually going to nominate. There were so many incredible films released last year and the reality is that hardly any of them are going to get recognized. There are always one or two films that are going to get an obscene amount of nominations but I can tell you right now that this is going to be a very disappointing award season. Again, for those of you wondering why you care; Oscars mean prestige and notoriety, its industry currency. Oscar nominations and wins allow filmmakers to keep making films, it allows studios to pull in obscene amounts of money. Oscars are the reason the industry is able keep making movies.
This is a much more realistic list of what the real Oscar nominations might look like. It’s rather homogeneous, disappointing and quite frankly, boring but so is the academy sooo. I am pretty confident in my Oscar predictions but good golly Ms. Dolly I hope that I am wrong because how terrible is this list? Nominations will officially be released on the 23rd at which time I will be saying I told you so as I cover who got nominated, snubbed and who I think will be taking home the awards.
