Okay so today I should be posting about the Oscar nominations as film is kind of my thing. However they were so disappointing and plain incorrect that I will just not be engaging with them at all. The plan was to release nominations today and then predictions and hopes and then reviews for everything nominated that I didn’t get a chance to see. But all you will be getting from me today is a video of me playing Castle of Illusion because the academy has doubled down on their racist, sexist BS this year.
Reminder that even though the general public might not care about awards like this the industry very much does. These awards dictate money, investment and which filmmakers get continued creative freedom. So they do matter. Which is why I am genuinely very upset. There were many snubs this year and once I settle myself that is the only Oscar related article I will be putting out. I will not be watching or recapping them this year and all I will say about the nominees is that I hope Lily Gladwell wins for best actress and Justine Triet wins for best director (though I think we all know that is not going to happen) But she is the only woman nominated because there are only 5 best director spots and having 2 women would be insane. So anyways fuck the Oscars and enjoy me playing Castle of Illusion.
