We are 5 weeks into Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings for our podcast An Idea of All Time and we are week 2 into its companion, our MCU rewatch. This week we are watching Iron Man 2 and oh boy did we fall far from the enjoyment that was Iron Man. We did in fact craft a movie specific drinking game but for full transparency you could probably reuse the game made for the first movie and still get pretty tipsy.

I obviously have many thoughts on this movie and how it portrays its women characters but even putting all of the aggressive sexism aside, the film still isn’t good. If I ignore its glaring oversexualization issues the film is still aimless with an astounding lack of character development. I will be noting on my ranking list which films feel like the main character is not the driving force of their own story because there are quite a few in the MCU. Iron Man 2 is not something anyone should watch or rewatch. I think it is one of the most skippable films in the MCU and it is definitely bottom tier. I will be color coding my ranking list so that we can see which phase is which but I want everyone to remember this film when they are bashing the new movies that Marvel comes out with.
