Well we have clearly established that Carrie Bradshaw sucks and we will most certainly continue to talk about that. However we are also going to talk about the show itself. Now at the start of season 2 of Sex and the City we find out from Charlotte that Big and Carrie dated for a year. The first season was only 12 episodes long and that year apparently lasted 5 of those episodes….that’s insane. This show is truly terrible at marking any passage of time and that takes away all emotional impact that any of these scenes may have.

The season ends with Big calling Carrie and basically telling her he never meant to hurt her. Now obviously this is bullshit, when he went off to Paris and got engaged to a 25 year old infant Carrie didn’t even cross his mind. He did not consider her, he didn’t even think about her. Because it doesn’t matter who he is in a relationship with, whoever he’s supposed to be focused on gets none of his attention. The man is incapable of emotional availability and Carrie is incapable of emotional regulation. The end of season 2 should have been the end of Carrie and Big, but evidently it wasn’t and we are stuck with their toxic relationship for the next 4 seasons.
