Tarot Review

I am a huge horror movie fan but only in the fall. I think releasing horror films into theaters any other time of the year inherently sets them up for failure. But then they get put on streaming services where I can enjoy them at my leisure so here we are. Netflix now houses Tarot, one of the horror films that was needlessly released earlier this year. My bar for horror films is pretty high so let’s see how this compares.

Overall I think it was a pretty decent horror movie. I think that horror is probably one of the most difficult genres to keep being original in. And at this point in society it is very hard to actually scare people. Most of what drives scary movies has been done to death so many times that people are just kind of numb to it. That said, it was properly creepy, had a good amount of suspense and didn’t over rely on jump scares. The story was clear and made sense. The tropes they used were simply building blocks and they didn’t overuse any of them. I would give the movie a good 7/10. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking but if you need more scary movies to watch for spooky season it is worth the hour and a half.
