A Quiet Place is pretty well regarded as a horror film, but like most movies made in the last decade they just kept deciding to make more of them. Let’s remember that not all movies need to be franchises and not all stories need an “origin”. That said they kept making them anyway so here we are watching A Quiet Place: Day One. The saving grace of this movie is the fact that Lupita is in it. She can do no wrong so the movie can’t be that bad. But Hollywood loves to disappoint me so let’s see.

Well we established at the top that our main character is dying of cancer, so this whole movie was just her last few days being extremely terrifying and traumatic. But she was always going to die which I guess makes it less sad? I think as far as unnecessary prequel/sequel movies go it was pretty good. Lupita is phenomenal and I love that she got to front what is basically a silent film on her own. You really get to see how incredible she is. The ending being her sacrificing herself so her friend can get away was really a great ending. It was tense, and brilliantly executed. Overall I think the movie gets a solid 7.5/10. I am probably not going to rewatch it a lot it is a decent film and Lupita is in fact the best part of it.
