Echo Episode 1

Recently Disney+ dropped its latest series, Echo. As with anything new that the MCU dares to do the show was met with many complaints. But as we know the general public’s opinion on what is of quality or not means absolutely nothing to me. So I of course had to watch it myself. The series is a very bingeable 5 episodes so I did finish it in a weekend. As of right now it is being railed as the second lowest rated MCU show…at 73% audience rating. First of all that isn’t at all a bad score, second of all we need to leave 10% wiggle room for internet incels angry that women exist and another 10% for the fact that Echo isn’t an established character in the MCU. Let’s go ahead and be really honest as to why WandaVision, Loki and Falcon and the Winter Soldier are rated so high, the audience was already familiar with them as characters. The first season of Loki sucked and some of y’all seem to be forgetting that. Also the lowest rated is Secret Invasion at 53% which is still way too high. So grouping them together when there is a 20% difference is insane. So here we go with the reality of Echo.

I love this journey that we are about to see that is going to follow her from angry, heartbroken little girl to superhero. I also appreciate that she doesn’t have superpowers, she’s just badass. We need more street level badasses. I of course want the show to focus on her but I am hoping we get another appearance from Daredevil. I would also like to point out that our lead actress, Alaqua Cox, is actually native, deaf and an amputee. So not only is the character and show good representation but we are getting it in the most honest way possible. Seeing a native main character is really cool, I kind of love it. And Maya is already a badass and complex character and I really can’t wait to see what happens next.
