History of The Celestials

Published by

on

We have had a few appearances by Celestials in the MCU but they weren’t good appearances. The MCU doesn’t seem to understand who or what the Celestials were yet they insist on continuing to vaguely bring them into stories. I would bet so much money not a single person working at Disney knows who they even are and that’s why all their appearances in the MCU are super contradictory. I once again petition that the MCU hires a comic book consultant that is allowed to slap writers and Kevin Feige upside the head with a comic book when they suggest something stupid. But who were they in the comic book world? Well here we go the history of the Celestials in Marvel comics.

There are 36 known Celestials some spread across realities and multiverses but all having at least a mention in a main continuity comic. The treatment of this super powerful group in the MCU is spotty at best. They are a cosmic entity and the MCU isn’t very good at writing those. But there is a lot more to them than what you have seen on the screen. I tried to keep it short and sweet but we didn’t even get to The Horde which is essentially a cosmic sickness and the creation and defeat of the Dark Celestials. The Thor issues I cited as well as just Avengers Volume 8 are great places to start if you are interested in the Celestials.
