Literally one of my favorite parts of Doctor Who is River Song. She is brilliant and amazing and one of my favorite tv characters of all time. She played really important roles in each of her doctors stories but there are definitely storylines and pairings that are better. So here we go with ranking all of the River Song episodes from less awesome to most awesome. We only get to see her once in David Tennent’s seasons and once in Capaldi’s seasons. She spends most of her time with Matt Smith’s Doctor and the two of them just have some incredible chemistry. I think her character definitely fits the group dynamic of 11, Amy and Rory the best, and not just because they are her parents. If you had plugged her into any other group it would have been really awkward and disjointed. But the writers did such a great job with her storyline, and even drawing attention to the way that time travel works.

My favorite River Song episode is probably Let’s Kill Hitler. Watching Melody regenerate is probably one of my favorite character moments. Even as Amy and Rory’s childhood friend, Mel is sassy and badass. River Song’s story was written so brilliantly. From the very beginning. Right down to Mel being Rory and Amy’s best friend growing up. She was always with them and her being raised to be a weapon but ending up being his perfect match is just brilliant forethought. River Song is seriously my favorite character and Alex Kingston plays her brilliantly.
