Picking my favorite episodes from my favorite doctor is like picking my favorite child but I suppose I could narrow it down to some of my top favorites. I’ve already done this with Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor and we will also be doing a list for David Tennent’s Doctor. But Matt Smith is my most rewatched Doctor. Partially because of his goofy demeanor and mostly because I love Amy and Rory and their dynamic with the Doctor. And we of course can not ignore the fact that Matt has River Song and honestly I think that is enough to make him my favorite Doctor. We will go season by season, highlighting my favorite episodes.

Matt Smith was given some of the best writing ever on the show, including the OG seasons. Even Matt Smith’s bad episodes are better than literally anyone else’s bad episodes. His writing is well thought out, consistent and emotionally charged. It’s most definitely not for the casual viewer but honestly 5 seasons into a TV show if you are looking for unconnected storylines that just ain’t gonna happen.
