On our third movie in our MCU rewatch we got to see Captain America The First Avenger. Now this is one of my favorite films of phase 1 mostly because I love Steve and partially because I love Bucky. I think this is definitely one of the best films in phase 1 but apparently my husband and I didn’t have too much to say about it so it didn’t warrant an entire podcast episode. Merely a 5 minute recap so here we are. We also crafted the Captain America drinking game that you are more then welcome to use upon your own rewatches.
Next up we will be watching Thor, and then perhaps we can compare the origin stories of the big three and see which one comes out on top. I already know my answer but I have seen these films quite a few times. I would like to remind everyone that we are not analyzing the cinematic quality of these movies, we are simply analyzing them in the context of the franchise and identifying MCU specific patterns. I gave Captain America an 8/10 making it the highest ranking movie so far on my list, Patrick gave it a 6/10 (wrong) which placed it in the middle of his. It will be interesting to see how these lists evolve as we move through the phases. I will say that though we are only a few movies into this MCU rewatch thus far this is the movie that holds up the best. Imagine taking place in the ’40s with no hint of sexism. Extra points for Cap.
