The next couple of weeks are really really busy. We have a few days worth of a dance competition this week and then we are gearing up for San Diego Comic Con in which I have already done a lot of work to get ready for. So today we did a double feature with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The second time we watched it the film felt so much longer. I do not recommend watching this movie at all, but definitely don’t watch it twice in a row. We just finished one of the best MCU movies (Civil War) and following it up with this was somewhat painful. I am hoping to turn this into a comic con panel for LACC so hopefully I will hear back for that soon. Doing this live and talking about the MCU formula will be interesting.
Two watches of these movies back to back was in fact torture. There was a whole lot of nothing happening. Patrick kept his promise to tally things and I kept mine to write a script better then the one we got. Now I did not write something super detailed. This is not at all formatted the way I would if I were pitching it to someone. These are very broadstrokes. And I really only went through act 1 and 2 but the idea is there. I have included the pdf so you can judge for yourself but I am pretty sure that even my writing while watching was better then the finished product that we got. Honestly it just feels like the film was produced after the first draft was written. The writers didn’t know what they were doing. Marvel really needs to do better and get back to actually developing their films.
