MCU Rewatch: Civil War

Published by

Captain America Civil War is the first film of phase 3 and it is still one of the best MCU films to date. This is a hill that I am willing to die on. This movie has been a hot topic among fans for nearly a decade now and I would like to put to rest some very common arguments.

I rant a lot on the podcast so I won’t spoil it for you but here we go; There is no possible way to be an intelligent human being and also be team Iron Man. The only person who actually read the accords was Cap. No one on team Iron Man was actually in favor of the accords, except maybe Rhodey and Vision. Spidey’s ideals that Tony talked with him about were fully in line with Steve’s line of thinking. Nat switches side. T’Challa is team avenge his father. And Tony is team maybe-now-I-can-get-Pepper-back. No one relevant was actually in favor of the accords.

Hawkeye/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), and Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes in Captain America: Civil War

Let’s attack the other side of the story. Bucky. Steve had 0 emotional obligation to tell Tony about his parents. Steve is and was 100% more obligated to Bucky. AND its not like he was the only one that knew. Why didn’t Nat tell Tony? Why didn’t Fury? Why didn’t Tony have the common sense to go through the leaked Hydra files himself?
