Many women of both the DC and the Marvel universes got their chance to shine last year. A lot of new limited series were launched as well as ongoing titles, all centering the superpowered women of these worlds. In an industry that has been seriously lacking in women led titles for the better part of almost 90 years it was a welcome and much needed wave of estrogen. Among the new titles was Storm. You may know her as one of the main players in the X-Men but she has a rich history and incredible stand alone potential.

These new women led series are not only increasing the amount of female stories that young girls and women that love comics get to read BUT most of them are also written by women. Marvel and DC have both made so much progress in the last year towards making comic books a more comfortable and welcoming place for women and girls. Between Storm, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Hawkgirl and so many more 2023 and 2024 is the time for women in comics. To be able to see the numbers go up for the amount of women taking front and center in the comics and in the writers room FOR these comics means so much to me.
